This course is an introduction to the study of the Universe beyond our solar system. We will describe how scientists study celestial objects and describe the lives of stars. We also investigate properties of galaxies and look at the structure and evolution of the Universe.
Dr. Thomas is a professor in the Department of Physics and Astronomy and have taught at UW-Eau Claire for 25 years. Dr. Thomas grew up in the UK and Australia and finished graduate school at UCLA. His research interests involve studying the geology of the planets and moons of our solar system using spacecraft data and computer models.
