Study of the physical environment. Emphasis on earth processes which affect humans such as rivers, erosion, groundwater, landslides, and earthquakes. Methods are examined for reducing or eliminating the harmful effects of human interaction with the geologic environment.
Lori Snyder was born and raised in Colorado, where she became interested in the outdoors at an early age. She attended Colorado State University receiving a B.S. in Geology. She then worked for two years with the Idaho Geological Survey and US geological Survey doing mineral assessment in proposed wilderness areas. Professor Snyder completed a M.S. at the University of British Columbia in Economic Geology. She has taught here at the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire since 1995 and during the summers she works for the Canadian Geological Survey doing Geological Mapping.
