Course Description

Antibiotic resistance is one of the most important problems in the area of health care. Due to misuse and overuse, disease-causing bacteria are becoming resistant to the drugs (antibiotics) that are used to kill them. Particularly alarming is the fact that many bacterial species are becoming resistant to more than one antibiotic and the fact that antibiotic resistance can spread between bacteria - even between bacteria that belong to different species.
