Mission & Vision

Mission Statement:

Open Eau Claire is an initiative focused on collaborating with faculty and staff to give prospective and current students an inside look into University of Wisconsin–Eau Claire courses.

Purpose:

Open Eau Claire provides focused units and multimedia from actual UW-Eau Claire classes in the form of an educational resource online organized as courses, free of charge and open to all. Through offering a glimpse into UW-Eau Claire classrooms and courses, Open Eau Claire reaches out to prospective and current UW-Eau Claire students as well as self-learners and community members.

Brief History:

Incepted by Tim Lauer in 2007 while he was in Student Senate, Open Eau Claire started to take form through consensus building among students, faculty, and administrators from all parts of the UW-Eau Claire campus.

Today, the project has expanded to include 20+ student team members and added new positions as the project has grown. As of Spring 2012, OEC has paired with Admissions to collaboratively promote the university to prospective students. OEC is also a component of the new UW-Eau Claire Educational Technology Center and the university's Educational Technology Master Plan. The project continues to be paid for by students through the Student Technology Fee and the Informational Technology Commission and is supported by the Student Senate.
