Dr. David Shih


David Shih is an Associate Professor of English at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. He grew up outside of Dallas, Texas and received his BA from the University of Texas at Austin. His graduate degrees include an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of Oregon and a Ph.D. in English Language and Literature from the University of Michigan. His academic field of specialty is Asian American literature, and he has published on the Asian American writers Louis Chu, Sui Sin Far, and Winnifred Eaton as well as on white British and American writers interested in Asians such as Sax Rohmer. He served as UW-Eau Claire’s first Equity, Diversity, and Inclusiveness Fellow and is a faculty member in the Social Justice Living Learning Community. In addition to Intro to Texts, a core course for English majors and minors, Dr. Shih teaches courses on college writing, American literature, social justice, and critical race studies.
