Dr. Michael Kolis is the Associate Professor of Education in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction of the College of Education and Human Sciences at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. He received his Ed. D in Adult Continuing Education at Northern Illinois University in 1992. Before coming the Associate Professor of Education at UW-Eau Claire in 2002 he taught at Montana State University-Northern. Other courses Dr. Kolis teaches include ES 312 General Methods of Teaching, ES 318 Teacher Assisting, ES 441 Student Teaching in Elementary Education, ES 445 Student Teaching in Middle Level Education, and ES 470 Student Teaching in Secondary Education. Dr. Kolis has received several awards in his field including the Faculty and Staff Excellence Award in 2009. In 2011, he authored the book ?Student Relevance Matters: Why do I have to know this stuff?? demonstrating that there is a purpose to all fields and knowing and understanding it is essential to further one?s learning.
