Dr. David Schaffer

Dr. Schaffer grew up in Detroit, Michigan. He earned his B.A. in Economics from Swarthmore College in Swarthmore, Pennsylvania in 1979 and later received his Ph.D. in Economics from MIT in Cambridge Massachusetts in 1990. He taught two years at MIT, four years at Union College, three at Dartmouth College and eight at Haverford College. Dr. Schaffer is currently in his 18th year of teaching at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. Dr. Schaffer co-authored a book named Who's Not Working and Why: Employment, Cognitive Skills, Wages, and the Changing U.S. Labor Market (Cambridge University Press, 2000) which is currently available for check out at the McIntyre Library. Schaffer also continues to do research on Labor Economics, Macroeconomics, Public Policy and International Economics and the increasing wage inequality in the United States.
