Chinese 102 is a beginning level course in Modern Standard Chinese (Mandarin).
This course is designed for students who have taken Chinese 101 or who are at the equivalent level. Students who have not taken Chinese 101 need to take a placement test before attending Chinese 102. This course continues to introduce elementary Mandarin pronunciation, grammar, and orthography (in both Pinyin and characters). Various Chinese cultural aspects will also be integrated into the classroom so as to expand the students? understanding of Chinese culture and enhance their interest in learning this language and culture. Chinese 102 consists of 4 classes per week, and students are expected to spend 8-10 hours per week in private study.
